How to choose among Resend, Postmark, Amazon SES, and SendGrid once you are paying, and when Pingram is the better fit.

Resend, Postmark, Amazon SES, and SendGrid all send transactional email. The choice that matters is the paid plan: the rate per thousand after the free start, and which parts of the product you still have to buy or build.

Three of them are worth picking. Pingram for startups, agencies, organizations that need EU or Canada residency, or teams that need more than email. Resend for startups, teams already on Vercel, or teams that only send transactional email. Amazon SES when you are already on AWS and you can operate it. Prices below are as of October 7, 2026. The wider matrix is Transactional email APIs compared. Feature detail for Resend is on Pingram vs Resend, and for Twilio on Pingram vs Twilio.

Pingram

Pingram is the balance of price and product. Paid email is $0.50 per 1,000, so a $20 monthly budget is about 40,000 emails. Templates and broadcasts are included. A dedicated IP is included on every paid tier. The same account sends SMS, voice, and in-app, and you can put data in the US, EU, or Canada.

It is the right pick for startups, agencies, organizations that need EU or Canada residency, and teams that need more than email. Agencies open a separate account per client from the dashboard or the API, with its own logs and keys. Details are in Announcing Multiple Accounts.

Resend

Resend is for startups, for a team already on Vercel, or for a team that will only send transactional email. Paid email is $0.35 to $0.40 per 1,000 on the $20 and $35 plans, though that rate is email only and has no Canada region. Marketing is a separate plan, from $40 a month for 5,000 contacts.

Postmark

Postmark fits a team that already sends marketing with it, likes the product, and wants transactional email on the same account. Marketing rides the same email plan, from $15 a month for 10,000 emails. Extra mail after that is $1.20 to $1.80 per 1,000, so 100,000 emails is well over $100. That price keeps it to teams that already like the product.

Amazon SES

Amazon SES is the cheapest email at high volume, at $0.10 per 1,000 if you switch to pay-as-you-go, though a new account starts at $0.16 per 1,000 on Essentials and you still build the logs. It fits a team that already runs AWS, can get out of the sandbox, and will wire up its own tracking, logs, and bounce handling. The sandbox is the hard part. A new account can also apply up to $200 in AWS credits, and those credits do not skip the approval. There is no separate campaign product. Bulk mail uses the same API.

SendGrid

SendGrid makes sense for an enterprise that already pays Twilio for other products and can get a discount on the email bill. The list rate is $0.35 to $0.40 per 1,000, though that is email alone and Marketing Campaigns is a separate plan from $15 a month. Without the Twilio discount, you are paying list price for both. The free start is a 60-day trial.

TLDR

Startups, agencies, organizations that need EU or Canada residency, or teams that need more than email: Pingram.

Startups, teams already on Vercel, or teams that only need transactional email: Resend.

Already on AWS, able to leave the sandbox, and ready to build tracking: Amazon SES.

Already sending marketing on Postmark and want transactional on that account: Postmark.

An enterprise discount on an existing Twilio bill: SendGrid.
