Quebec Law 25

Pingram supports Quebec Law 25 for email and SMS.

Law 25 updated Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector. It applies to a Quebec business that collects personal information. For notifications, that information is the recipient’s email address or mobile number, the message, and delivery metadata such as status, timestamps, and engagement events.

Pingram is the service provider for that data. Your company remains responsible for its own compliance. This page describes the product. It is not legal advice.

Canada region

The Canada region is in the Montreal area. Logs and end-user records for an account in that region stay in Quebec, and they do not leave Canada. The region is on every plan, including free.

Create the account on the Canada host, then call the Canada API. A key from a US or EU account does not move existing records into Quebec.

Delivery to a recipient’s inbox or handset is the message going to that person. The copy Pingram keeps, the user record and the logs, stays in the Canada region.

What you can do in the product

From a Canada-region account:

  • Delete a recipient. The Users tab, and the user API, permanently delete that person’s contact information and notification history. See Managing End Users.
  • Export. Email privacy@pingram.io to request an export of data Pingram holds.
  • Email unsubscribe. Unsubscribe links and the hosted unsubscribe page are generated for you. See Unsubscribe Link & Page.
  • Suppression. Bounces, complaints, and unsubscribes are kept off future sends. See Suppression List Management.
  • Email tracking. Set openTracking: false and clickTracking: false on a send when that message should not collect open or click data. Delivery, bounce, and complaint events still record. See Tracking and Analytics.
  • SMS opt-out. Pingram honors STOP and START automatically. STOP blocks further SMS to that number. START lifts the block. Pingram does not answer HELP. Your company sends that reply.

Pingram encrypts data in transit and at rest, controls access, and is SOC 2 Type II. Reports are in the Trust Center. Security questions go to security@pingram.io.

What stays with you

Pingram stores logs and end-user records for a Canada-region account in the Montreal area. Deletion, export, unsubscribe, suppression, and SMS STOP and START are built in. Your company handles its own obligations.
